Students aren’t as distracted by what the other classmates are or aren’t wearing, and they feel a sense of likeness as they are all wearing the same clothes. Uniforms improve order and discipline, self-esteem and self-respect, focusing the attention upon learning and away from such distractions as fashion competition and gang intimidation. Uniforms help to create unity and diversity by encouraging values of tolerance and respect. Uniforms allow kids and adolescents to grow in a surrounding where everyone is equal since elementary. Uniforms make students to focus more on learning and less on socioeconomic status (â€Å"Junior Scholastic†).We live in an era where most adolescents are worried about the â€Å"good looking† and they are less worried about their academic achievements, with uniforms this serious problem can be reduced in a great percent, for example, In 1994, Long Beach became the first U.S public school district to require school uniforms. Their results have been astounding, they saw 51-percent drop in fights, 50 percent drop in weapons and a 32-percent drop on suspensions (â€Å"Junior Scholastic†).
